THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN Movie Review

If you are a fan of Clive Barker's Books Of Blood Series then you should know that this movie is based on one of the stories from the collection. I enjoy most movies based on his books even though I haven't actually sat down to read one. I did however read a page or two of this story (oddly enough) because the boyfriend reads his books and I was curious as to how he writes. Graphic to say the least! He has a way with capturing your attention within minutes.

The movie may not have been a blockbuster hit in theaters but it did star Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, All About Steve, The A-Team) playing Leon who is an amateur photographer interested in furthering his career. He sets out to the underground subway system one night to follow a group of vandals and when they start to harass a woman he interferes and the guys walk away. The next day he finds out that the woman has gone missing and he starts to uestion what happened to her. Curiosity takes over and he decides to start investigating the matter himself only to find that a similar dissappearances have been happening for decades. He takes to the subway again and falls witness to a grewsome murder on one of the carts. Serial killer Mahogany stalks his prey on the subway late late at night and kills them with a meat hammer and then hangs them with meat hooks. Leon takes photos, shows his girlfriend Maya played by Leslie Bibb (The Skulls ) who does not believe him and thinks that he has gone crazy. He also approaches the police department who do not believe him and ends up making them suspicious of his motives.

Throughout the rest of the movie you see Leon witness several murders and trying to get people to believe what he is witnessing. I will have to end the review there because I am not one to spoil a good movie. The film is filled with blood, gore and violence and should gain cult classic status in no time. It's the type of movie that you might be on the fence about but the ending is a rather interesting one!
