VAMPIRES SUCK Movie Review
Yah Yah Yah You are probably asking yourself why the heck I am writing a review for this movie. Well the answer to this brain busting question is easy "I Actually Went To See The Movie !!!" It was a toss up between this and Piranha 3D, I know I know, then why right? Well I took my nieces to the movies and even though the younger one who is 10 (and oddly enough a horror movie buff) I thought it may be a tad bit inappropriate for her to sit through a movie with a bunch of college drinking and girl on girl action. Yeah me for letting her watch The Exorcist and not a bunch of immortal college kids lol.
Anyways, back to the review of one of this year's most anticipated parody movies "Vampires Suck". Well I can imagine it was mostly anticipated by all those who followed the Twilight Saga and the boyfriends that had to listen to them talk about whether they were on team Jacob or team Edward. Unlike most spoofs this movie actually follows the Twilight story quite well adding a few one liners here and there. They also mock the present hot pop culture shows, people and items. For example there's a tad bit a la Gossip Girl style and you see Taylor Swift getting it across the head swiftly. It's what you would expect to get out of a low budget mockery movie but a bit more then the last few that have been released.
It was written and directed by Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer who also worked on Epic Movie, Meet The Spartans, The Scary Movies 1,2,3,4 and a few other parodies. I could say that this is their best but really it ranks at the same level it's just funny right now because of its time. It also has Ken Jeong (Hangover) playing the role of a Volturi and Disney channel comedienne Anneliese van der Pol who I can see having a bigger acting career in the near future.
For what it is the movie really isn't that bad and has its moments. Do I think you should go out and see it? It depends if you know enough about the Twilight Saga to get what they are poking fun at, and if that's the case then sure hit it up. With all of the other big releases out though I would suggest going see something else and wait for this one to come out on t.v. skipping the whole rental stage as well.
