3 INCHES OF BLOOD Interview with Cam Pipes

XM: For starters, what has the band been up to so far this year?
Cam: Touring mostly, but in January we recorded 2 new songs for a 7” EP that was just released

XM: We last got a chance to hear from you guys was in February on the tour with Eluveitie. Since then we have a tour with Skeltonwitch in progress, a tour with Cancer Bats announced along with a new EP releasing soon. Would you be able to elaborate more on these for our readers?
Cam: Yes, we just did 2.5 weeks in the Eastern US co-headlining with Skeletonwitch and we’re currently out for 4 weeks co-headlining across Canada with Cancer Bats

XM: How do you manage to write new material and come out with albums when you're on the road as much as you are?
Cam: We tend not to write on the road cuz there’s too much focus put on playing the show each day.  We all get ideas at any given time, but we don’t actually work on writing until we’re at home in our rehearsal space.

XM: Out of curiosity, why 3 inches and not 2 or 4 inches of blood?
Cam: Why not 10 or 100?  I don’t know, the name just stuck

XM: Fans always get a constant stream of band news, random links, or crazy pictures from your Facebook and twitter profiles. Is there anyone more so responsible for the wacky antics?
Cam: Justin (guitar) posts most of the weird stuff on there.  It’s all in good fun.

XM: On your Facebook and twitter you guys asked what kind of merch the fans would like. What’s your response to the suggestions so far?
Cam: Everything from more shirts to condoms.  We’re always looking for new ideas.

XM: Is there any merch that you personally would like to see with "3 Inches of Blood" on it that the band currently doesn’t sell?
Cam: Anything we don’t already have, I’d like to see us make it.

XM: Collectively how many tits have you autographed for the lucky female fans?
Cam: Probably 5 or so.  It doesn’t really happen very often.

XM: When you hear X-PLOSIVE METAL what is the first thing that comes to mind?
Cam: A metal website

XM: Canadian metal is constantly growing and slowly gaining a bigger presence in the global metal scene. 3 Inches of Blood being a huge part of this growth. Have any other Canadian bands caught your attention recently?
Cam: Bison BC, Cancer Bats, Evil Survives, Haggatha, Ancients

XM: If you had to pick your top 3 venues in Canada, where would they be?
Cam: Rickshaw Theatre and Commodore Ballroom -both in Vancouver, Starlite Room -Edmonton

XM: Do you have a favourite memory from the "Everything Remains as it never was" tour?
Cam: When we edited Holy Grails intro music to include part of an ABBA song and fart noises.

XM: Do you guys have anything planned for the release of the EP? Alcohol will be involved I'm sure.
Cam: We’re touring in support of the EP right now and of course there’s always booze on tour

XM: How much bourbon did you actually get from fans in Iowa? Is this trend going to continue? Hell I know I'd bring a bottle if it meant guest list for 3 Inches of Blood.
Cam: None, we posted the message too late

XM: Getting a little shout out on Dethklok’s "Metalocalypse" must have been interesting. Who noticed the 3 inches of Savings on the tube first?
Cam: A fan posted something on our facebook page about it, so we all got together and watched Season 3 and found it.

XM: From behalf of all that is X-Plosive Metal.com, thank you for letting us interview you! Are there any parting words you would like to share with our readers?
Cam: Thanks for reading. Drink your school, stay in drugs, and don’t do milk!
