AGGRESSOR Interview with Brian Stephenson

XM: What has the band been up to so far this year?
Brian: Damn man, well I guess a whole buncha shit. To be honest memory aint serving me too well right now, but uh…we went out east at the end of 2010, played some shows in Toronto and you know…areas within a 10 hour radius from home…as far as members go, Adam our guitar player has left the band….uh…Chris is gonna’ be doing this 5-6 week tour with Cauldron, and I’ve joined up with Beehler for his upcoming tours. So I mean as far as us muthafuckaz were doing alright. Aggressor however is kickin’ some ass and were all damn pumped to see what kinda’ good shit 2011 is gonna’ bring us! Maybe some big ol titties in the front row, a million dollar record contract a crate of free booze! Hahah

XM: How are things coming along with “Beyond All Reckoning”? What can fans expect from the upcoming album? What date are you looking at for release?
Brian: Well to be perfectly honest with you, the album was recorded almost a whole year ago now. We kinda went into the studio and rushed things and with money being a little tight nowadays we got some pretty cool ideas on how to release the stuff. but as far as what to expect…fuckin’ nothing short of a good ol’ ass beating. Hahah I’m telling you this while I listen to the god damn darkness haha but shit yeah man, it’s got the Aggressor stamp of approval. It’s a little different from past shit we’ve done, but hey it’s what we were on at the time, and aint nothing better than 9 tracks of complete fuckin honesty. But moneys tight cause Ryan’s got a bit of a hooker problem! Hahah god damn trannies.

XM: How will the next album differ from your other releases?
Brian: How does a tit differ from a bag of milk, how does Burger King differ from Denny’s, how does a penis differ from a vagina….they all intertwine and work together to make a better glass of milk, a better sandwich, or a better way to catch a nut right? I mean thing is…we write what we feel regardless of who’s saying what. Were not Metallica or the Beatles YET but were gonna’ do what we want to do regardless of what people want to think or say, and its always gonna’ stay like that. We dig the new shit because it’s a good contrast to the old stuff in the set. We’re a live band. As real and alive as they come, man. So to us its all about how the shows gonna flow. If we need a fast ass heavy as a fuckin’ battle ship kinda’ tune…give’r, you want something to finger bang your ass and sniff your finger to…whatever you like….we’ll give it to ya straight forward and in yer face. But really the only difference is, we’ve gotten better at our instruments I can only hope right? Haha

XM: Do you have an events planned for the album when it comes out? Will you have a release party or something like that? What will you do?
Brian: Who knows? We planned on having a CD release show next month, but our album isn’t out quite yet….so I mean we got some pretty big plans for the album coming out….I guess yall will just have to wait and see now wont ya?

XM: Do you all write the music together or is someone the "boss" when it comes to song writing?
Brian: HAHAH well….I mean. Chris and I are the main songwriters. I write riffs and we throw em together and shit. Sometimes someone will come in with a riff or 50% of a song done which is usually what Chris and I do mostly…then BAM got yourself a new song!

XM: What has been your favorite show that you’ve played to date? Why that one?
Brian: The Hammer Smith Appollo with Annihilator back when I was playing bass for them and The Warfield with Sanctity but Aggressor will get there eventually. Now as far as AGGRESSOR gigs that’s a bit hard to answer but personally those two shows I sort of remember the vibe of them…uh…but naw with Aggressor DEFINITELY either Denver or really any show from the Vindicator tour in the states. Those shows every night were just fuckin amazing! We jammed for a month on the bad-ass roads of America which to myself and my brother is home. We played with Slayers bastard but sexy as fuck child, Possessor who were the sweetest most brotherly southern gentleman. and with our brothers and sister in Vindicator. Those guys just made every night memorable and amazing for us. And the crowds and people of America are just plain and simply the fuckin best!

XM: On your MySpace profile you mention how videos have been replaced by dumb and culturally defining reality TV shows. Do you watch ANY reality TV at all? I mean we all have a guilty pleasure… So let’s hear it, what reality TV show would we most likely be shocked to hear that you watched?
Brian: Beavis and Butthead. Story of my life…

XM: Do any of the band members speak French and if so would you ever consider doing a song in French?
Brian: Well my brother and I do. But as far as a French song….A tout le monde was kinda gay in my opinion.

XM: What are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as an unsigned band?
Brian: Every second of bullshit is worth it. We been through some shit. Were like the foster kids who get beat down in the playground only to rise up and kick the shit outta the school bully and throw fuckin rokken parties in high school. and get all that stanky pussy on our fingers. So here comes College….pootytang!

XM: If you could have been involved in the recording, writing or production of any album which would it be and why?
Brian: Any REAL Skynyrd album…I wouldn’t have taken part in any of it, but I would have loved to have been Ronnie Van Zants friend and just be able to see all the shows. They were the hardest working band, and the most amazing band of all time in my books anyway. Ronnie was the man, and I hope I can do him proud and all the bad-ass heroes of ours. Were nothing without influence and influence is nothing without us to push that forward. But if I have to pick an album, I took part in Beyond all Reckoning, Rape The Willing and everything before and afterwards. The next Aggressor record is gonna just fuckin rip!

XM: What are your impressions of the metal scenes in your hometown and in Canada as a whole?
Brian: I mean its alright. I don’t truthfully pay attention to much other than what I gotta do to keep my part of this band running. But there are some fuckin kick ass bands here in Canada. Reanimator, Joe Thrasher, Paradigm divide are good friends of ours, Unleash the Archers are kick ass with a great female front, Cauldron with Chris on drums, Metalian, SkullFist, Alcoholator are a new band that fuckin rule, but the best Canadian band OF ALL TIME other than Goat Horn…..DARK FUCKIN LEGION MAN! They fuckin rule! But now that Beehlers back on the scene were gonna have one fuckin hell of a rager in our pants. Best new metal album of the past 2 decades is coming at you with the Aggressor and Beehler stamps.

XM: What is the first thing you think of when you hear the words X-PLOSIVE METAL?
Brian: I watch enough porn for that. Listen to some fuckin Immortal and get yer nut son!

XM: And finally is there any gear that you wish to praise or Condemn?
Brian: Yeah DEAN GUITARS BOY! Thems are the best shits around. Im a new endorsee, proud of the tide and fuckin true! Marshall amps just made me my own signature head. They actually rose Jim Marshall from the grave just so he could build it himself….he also made me a signature cab which was real cool of him, I just had to give him Micheal Jacksons soul, but hey…that’s the price you pay right? The new head is the JCM 800 2203ZW head….available at all guitar centers…just ask for the Zakk trimmings. Youll catch that nut.
